Superbowl=DREAMS!

For most, especially 95% of people who attended my boarding school today means MANLY COMPETITION AND BEER! For me, the superbowl is a day of DREAMS!

Why would I say this? I am a girly female comedy nerd who certainly doesn’t care much for the sports. I WILL TELL YOU!

In February 2008, I performed my first improv show on the UCB stage, Improv 101 with Erik Tanouye. I was very nervous and excited to finally perform on the stage I so very appreciated/ adored. I had a great show, not great for the level I’m at now obviously, but I had many laughs and felt high afterwards.

I felt on top of the world. I had made me family and friends proud and I knew I was doing the right thing. THEN, a pretty lady came up to me, shook my hand, and said “You were really funny”. It twas none other than Kristen Wiig, who happened to be at my level 101 show. She was there to see her boyfriend perform. She ran away too quickly for me to say “i’m not worthy” or “i love you” probably to go enjoy the manly competition and beer.

One of the best moments of my life.

DREAMS!

WOAH

I haven’t been on Tumblr in about a year. I feel ashamed about my one year ago posts. Except for the the whippet one, I still stand by that. SO MUCH CAN HAPPEN IN A YEAR!

Warning: this is kind of cheesy/ self nurturing/ health and wellness-y

I felt inspired to write a blog entry after my recent hospital experience. I won’t explain the whole thing because I’m bored of doing it but it was scary and could have been life threatening if I didn’t act as quickly as I did.

Maybe it was the morphine, or the ‘roids, but when laying on my stretcher in the middle of the hospital (i was literally in the middle of a hallway), I felt extremely grateful. I felt energized by the idea that you never know how much time you have. I have always been a gigantic dreamer and recently had to take a “break” creatively because I felt overwhelmed. I don’t feel bad about taking the break, I’m young and hve done improv non-stop since I was 17. But this trip to the E.R. gave me a much needed reality check.

Two big things I learned 1. stop smoking, you have the respiratory system of a baby 2. you have NOTHING to complain about.

Really, I don’t. I’m extremely lucky otherwise but life itself is a gift (I do yoga) and next time I complain about stupid stuff, I’ll revisit the memory of being the February hospital visit and how it could have been much, much worse.

It’s kind of a blessing in disguise being the fragile baby bird I am. Some people can handle a lot more than I can. I’m just the kind of the person who has to be healthy or I’m miserable. Don’t wait until it’s too late, you thick skinned peeps out there! Eat your greens!!!! Do yoga!!!!! Laugh a lot!!!!!!

Most importantly: Be grateful. If nothing else, this is the best one.

Love everyone’s new mother,

Katie
